My 40th Birthday

So, I threw myself a 40th Birthday party. Invited my favorite people and made my favorite food! Here are a few samples! This is the cheese board accompanied by a fig and port compote. Really good!

This is the  vegetable tray with a lemon chive dip.
Here are some of my favorite desserts...vanilla panna cotta with lemon marmalade (in the glasses), caramel-dark chocolate fleur de sel truffles, raspberry gelees, and on the bottom, ski queen apple pies. Yum!!

Here is a picture of the buffet table. I also included olive butter on baguette topped with radishes, lemon parsley gougeres, cedar plank figs wrapped in pancetta and topped with goat cheese and honey, rosemary roasted cashews, and galettes with leeks, potatoes, and red wine poached pears. Everything turned out fabulously!!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yum. Chocolate chip cookies. Nothing fancy, just pure goodness. Tried and true, this recipe is simply the best. They are my husband's favorite. I put one in his lunch everyday. Bake a big batch and freeze some after they cool.

Recipe:
2 sticks soft butter
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 t vanilla
3 cups flour
1 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1 bag dark chocolate chips (dark chocolate is healthy, ya know)

1. Cream butter and sugars together. Mix in eggs and vanilla.
2. Sift dry ingredients into the butter mixture. Mix until just combined.
3. Stir in chocolate chips. Scoop onto a parchment lined sheet tray. Bake at 325   for 15-18 minutes.
4. Cool on wire rack. Eat.
